PA Pre-K Counts Overview
Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV is the lead agency for a Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts Grant. PA Pre-K Counts is a high quality early learning program that prepares children ages 3-5 with the early literacy, cognitive, mathematical reasoning and social skills needed to be successful in Kindergarten by using the Pennsylvania Early Childhood State Standards and Creative Curriculum.
Lawrence County
Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV partners with three high quality early learning providers across Lawrence County. Our partners are Bright Star Learning Center, Lawrence County Social Services Inc., and Pre-K Kids Learning Center.
Bright Star Learning Center operates two PA Pre-K Counts classrooms and is located at 1315 East Washington Street, New Castle.
Lawrence County Social Sevices Inc. operates one PA Pre-K Counts classroom in the Shenango Elementary School, which is located at 2501 Old Pittsburgh Road, New Castle.
Pre-K Kids Learning Center also operates one PA Pre-K Counts classroom and is located at 2744 Ellwood Road, New Castle.
Mercer County
Creative Preschool and Day Care in Mercer County operates one PA Pre-K Count classroom. Creative Preschool and Day Care is located at 701 Pierce Ave., Suite 4, Sharpsville.
The Pre-K Counts Program
Full-day slots are available at each location for this 180-day high-quality early learning program.
- Open to children ages 3-5.
- The Pre-K Counts staff consists of highly qualified Early Childhood Education teachers and classroom assistants.
- Transportation must be provided by parents to and from school and daily attendance is closely monitored.
- Register anytime. Classes start in August, but occasionally there are openings throughout the year. Plan now for August!
- This program is funded by the Office of Child Development & Early Learning (OCDEL) through a Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts Grant.
