Labor & Management Spirit Award

2020 Spirit Award Honoree: Nicky McCall

Nicky McCall was honored on December 16, 2020, at the MIU IV Board of Directors meeting as the 2020 recipient of the Spirit Award. Nicky has been the secretary/clerk for the Nonpublic School Services since 2013. Executive Director, Dr. Wayde Killmeyer presented her with the award.

This award, sponsored by the Intermediate Unit’s Labor & Management Committee, was created to recognize a support staff individual who exemplifies excellence in the job, caring involvement and involvement in the community. Employees from the organization as well as members of the educational community nominated Nicky. A selection committee representing all areas of the IU chooses recipients.

“Nicky is always pleasant, always helpful, and always ready to lend a hand to others,” says Dr. Wayde Killmeyer, Executive Director of Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV (MIU IV). “She exemplifies all that is positive about our service personnel.”

“Nicky is a shining star,” said Brenda Marino, Assistant to the Executive Director, MIU IV. “She is kind, honest, helpful, and dedicated to the mission of our organization.”

Special Education Director Melissa Wyllie echoed those sentiments:  “The first word that comes to mind when I think of Nicky is commitment. Nicky is committed to MIU IV and the goals of this organization.”

“Nicky displays an excellent work ethic and radiates a satisfaction and happiness with her position,” writes Roberta Bucci, Director of Government Programs for the Diocese of Erie. “She does the IU proud in every way and they should consider themselves blessed to have such a dedicated, capable, and service-oriented employee.”
