Labor & Management
Overview
The Labor and Management Committee was formed by the Executive Director to bring together labor and management to discuss common concerns and work through ideas of how the IU can be a better service organization for the districts the IU serves.
The Labor and Management Committee meets on the same Wednesdays as the IU Board meetings are held. We provide scholarship programs for the children of IU employees and a Caring and Sharing program to help those IU employees that need some extra help.
We recognize employees every year that are nominated by their peer groups. For MIU ESPA we have the Spirit Award; for MIU EA we have the Annie Sullivan Award; and for Act 93 we have the Leadership Award. We presentedthe Friend of Education Award to go to a community member that supports our efforts to help children for several years.
We strive to meet our goals every meeting and have created numerous sub-committees to help us achieve our goals. There is representation from all the bargaining units on the sub-committees.
