GROVE CITY, PA – April 30, 2025 – The Midwestern Intermediate Unit #4 BrainSTEPS Team has been awarded the "BrainSTEPS Team Exceptional Performance Award" for the 2024-2025 school year, marking their second consecutive win.

This award recognizes the team's consistent dedication and outstanding support for students, parents, and educators in Butler, Lawrence, and Mercer Counties who are impacted by brain injuries.

The BrainSTEPS program at MIU IV, under the leadership of Richael Fertig and Karen Chambers, has met rigorous standards in providing vital resources, training, and direct assistance to the region's educational community. Their commitment to best practices ensures students with brain injuries receive the support needed to thrive. Only five out of 29 intermediate units statewide received this recognition.
