2nd Annual Gale Cox Memorial Service Learning Award
A special thank you to the individuals (Lia Noel, Val Kiser, Nichole Curilovic, Michele Lagnese, Janet Leise and Dee Thompson) who took the time to write a proposal for the Gale Cox Award.
Congratulations to Janet Leise and her secondary MDS classroom for being selected for the 2nd Annual Gale Cox Memorial Service Learning Award recipient winner!!
The focus of this proposal was to benefit patients at Butler Memorial Hospital and Early Intervention students who may be terminally ill or have a serious illness.
Janet has formed a partnership with Butler High School's Life Skills classroom that is right next door to her classroom. Together they will be designing super hero capes created by the students and then donated to children in the hospital or visiting homes if permissible of students. This project's intention is to celebrate the courage of those who are chronically ill with cancer or other debilitating illnesses.
After their hard work, they will enjoy an ice cream social to celebrate! We can't wait to see what these student can do with this service learning project!!!
Weather: In case of inclement weather, please call MIU IV 724.458.6700 ext. 1370 prior to your departure to hear changes, if any, to the day's schedule.
