Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV held an ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) training on May 3, 2017. The workshop provided preparation and plans for our staff on how to more proactively handle the threat of an aggressive intruder or active shooter event. Whether it is an attack by an individual person or by a group of people, ALICE Training option based tactics have become the accepted response, versus the traditional “lockdown only” approach. Our employees were really challenged to analyze and be cognizant of surroundings. Situational awareness was a common theme through this intense training.
